2271 S S.G. #42S/52aS var. imageS.G.#42S/52aS var., 1912-18 1p to 10/- King George V with "Specimen" overprints from the Madagascar archives, six pieces of ledger page with strips of three of ten values including both surfaced colored and colored through papers of the 3p and 10/- values and surfaced colored paper of the 1/-, plus a 5/- strip, each affixed and cancelled by a portion of large red "Postes et Telegraphes/Collection de Berne/Madagascar" circular handstamp, very fine; the U.P.U. at this time was sending strips of three to the member nations, Madagascar often separated them prior to affixing them to the page but they did not on these, this is actually about the only way that one can acquire multiples of the specimens; extremely rare and certainly unique as such; a wonderful addition to a specialized collection of the Cayman Islands; ex-Cooley (Scott #34S/47S var.). Cochran corner card of the local dealer on Grand Cayman, on the reverse are illustrations of Jamaican Healing Oil and Lung Balsam, both medicinal products of the Benjamin Co., stamp tied by "Georgetown/Grand Cayman/DE 7 14" c.d.s., Type 5 pmk., posted locally, minor wrinkles to cover, very fine; not only is the medicinal advertising cover rare, but the single franking of the one farthing value to pay the correct printed matter rate is exceptionally rare and seldom saved (Scott #32).
