1594 ogOc U1/543, UC1/UO72 #U1/543, UC1/UO72, Comprehensive mint and used cut square balance collection of over 700 different on Scott pages plus a modest number of duplicates and over 70 mint and used entires scattered throughout including some better, this collection is loaded with items cataloging $50.00-$400.00 (and some higher), value is found in all issues, only the first Nesbitt issue is predominantly used, the rest of the issues are largely mint with only a scattering of used as duplicates or ones that are hard to obtain in mint, wonderful selection of mint 19th century from the 1861 issue and onward with particular strength and value in the Reay and Plimpton issues with good runs of clean mint cut squares to the 90c values, the 20th century, though not as valuable, is as comprehensive and several issues are collected accurately by die type, especially the oval and round dies, also a nice group of the 1920-25 Surcharges with better items, plus including over 50 officials, we note some full corners throughout, some minor faults are present among the earliest issues plus a few with smaller margins, however the overwhelming majority is very fine; a substantial collection that should prove useful to collector or dealer alike. $42,000.00

1595 og U2/U531, UC1/UO67 U2/U53, UC/UO67, Attractive and valuable mint cut square collection of over 500 different which includes 45 officials and 46 Philippine Islands issues, majority of the value is in the 19th century issues which start with a modest selection of the first Nesbitt issue, also includes a nice range of the Civil War and Bank Note periods, plus turn-of-the-century issues, 20th century includes representative collections of the oval and circular dies with a nice range of the surcharges including better items, condition is overall very fresh and attractive with bright colors, includes some large size items and full corners, fine-very fine or better and well worth examining. $25,100.00

1596 ogO U1/U419 #U1/U419, 1853-1915 Cut square collection of working dies, consisting of over 425 mint and used cut squares showing the different types of the major dies, starts with over 80 of the 3c Red first design on the two different papers of the various dies, includes a fair number of mint full corners of different types of die 5, also includes a nice range of 1c and 3c mint and used Star Dies, plus 2c Jacksons and 3c Washingtons of the 1861-64 issues, we also note a nice mint group of the different 1c and 2c Columbians, most cut squares are 19th century but includes issues up to the 1907-16 Mercantile oval dies, a few entires are also included, overall fine-very fine and a nice basis for a very specialized collection of cut squares; Scott catalog value is in excess of $6,000.00. 1598 ogc U7/536, UC1/UO48 #U7/536, UC1/UO48, Interesting mint and used postal entire collection of over 150 envelopes plus some miscellaneous cards and covers, a large portion of the envelopes are 19th century, and while used are found throughout, the concentration of used is found in the early Nesbitt envelopes with a nice selection of eleven of the 10c Green first issue envelopes used from California to the east coast, but there are also nice mint items as well including first issue 6c Red on white and buff, high values of the 1864-65 including a used 9c Yellow, some mint high values including the 30c Black on white, amber and cream, plus a number of 90c Carmine on white or amber manila, we also note a group of mint entires with Wells, Fargo and Co. printed franks, some officials including first issue War Department in deep red, even a few specimens and an essay, etc., condition varies but overall the vast majority are fine-very fine; a worthwhile and valuable lot with catalog value for just the entires over $14,000.00 Est. 4,000-5,000

1599 Sc U93/104 image#U93/104, 12c-30c Reay postal envelopes with "Specimen" overprint, size 21, knife 98, wmk. 2, a lovely matched group of 10 different with 41x4mm "Specimen" overprint with serifs in the address area, all in the smaller size envelopes of the two sizes in which these come, includes the 12c and 24c in all three papers of white, amber and cream, the 15c in amber and cream and the 30c in white and cream, in addition there are two of the larger size 25 envelopes of the 30c, one on cream with the same overprint and the other on white with 44x3mm bolder overprint, twelve exceptionally fresh and attractive specimen envelopes in all, very fine and choice. 1600 Sc U113S/190S, UO5S/53S #U113/190, UO5S/53S, Plimpton postal envelope collection with "Specimen" overprints, a total of 61 envelopes including six officials, includes a number of different sizes, different quality papers as well as different color papers and different specimen forms, some of which do not include the word "Specimen", but just size or quality of paper, condition is quite mixed as over half of these were in a display binder with two spindle holes punched at left, others were pasted on display boards which has damaged the front or the back when they were pulled off, plus some with soiling or discoloration from exposure to light while displayed, overall fine and interesting lot which is quite useful for reference. Est. 400-500
