Left wing margin, tied by barred "A01" cancel with bold "Kingston, Jamaica NO 24, 6" duplex datestamp on 1860 folded letter to London, London arrival on both front and back, several minor edge tears FINE. THIS IS THE EARLIEST RECORDED DATE OF USE FOR A JAMAICA STAMP. A MAJOR RARITY AND KEY TO BUILDING A WORLD-CLASS COLLECTION OF JAMAICA. The First Issue of Jamaica was issued in Kingston on Nov. 23. British packet mail would have been cancelled and bagged on the 24th. The only opportunity for an earlier date would be a first day used within Jamaica. To date, no examples have been recorded. Mint N.H. bottom left selvage vertical strip of five, bottom two stamps with the light brown omitted, third (normal) and fourth (error) stamp cancelled Kingston Apr. 12, 1965, faint traces of gum toning VERY FINE. A SPECTACULAR STRIP CONTAINING BOTH A MINT NEVER-HINGED AND USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1964 ONE-SHILLING NATIONAL STADIUM WITH YELLOW BROWN OMITTED.
