624 c   World War II and Korean War correspondence of Army Captain John Henry Nelson, from Miami, Texas, who served in WWII with the 504th and 515th Parachute Infantry and then with the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Division in the Korean War, where he was killed in action, about 150 covers and letters mostly to and from his family, starting with his early involvement in World War II, then several from the Korean War, then after his death various covers with "Verified Deceased" handstamps and pencil "KIA", thirteen marked return to writer, then there are several letters to his father from Congressmen, Senators and military leaders, even one from Lyndon Johnson (autopen); a fascinating journey of a serviceman from his early days to making the ultimate sacrifice.
