The August 2011 Collector's Series Sale -
August 19-20, 2011
Spink Shreves announces another popular Collector’s Series Sale – which are
always anticipated by collectors and dealers alike for the variety and
desirability of the material being offered. Our upcoming August 2011
Collector’s Series Sale is a perfect example of an auction that will excite
collectors and dealers of both U.S. and foreign material. Also included,
are our popular Worldwide Large Lots & Collections. Spink Shreves August
2011 Collector’s Series Sale features:
The Estate of Raymond L. “Pat” Buse, Jr.
A voluminous collection containing mint never hinged stamps of the world –
formed by the popular former Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds owner.
In addition, the Buse collection contains postal history of Cincinnati,
Ohio.
A Private Collector’s Assemblage of Early 20th Century U.S. Errors. A
most impressive offering of errors from the Washington-Franklin era to the
1934 National Parks and 1938 Presidential series. Many of the errors are in
the finest condition attainable.
The Frank L. Himpsl Collection of U.S. Revenues. The Himpsl Collection
is an exciting and valuable collection of predominately 19th Century U.S.
Revenues, with particular emphasis on Private Die Proprietary stamps. In
fact, the Himpsl Match, Medicine, Perfumery and Playing Card stamp
collection is one of the finest of its kind to appear at auction in many
years – and it is highlighted by many seldom offered rarities.
The Christopher C. Smith Collection of Classic India
A very comprehensive collection of the 1854 Lithographed issue and
1855-1902 Queen Victoria De La Rue issues offered in over 100 lots. The
collection includes not only virtually all the mint or used stamps, but is
also replete with postal history, as he attempted to assemble as many
different rates, routes and franking combinations as possible for all these
19th Century issues. Also noteworthy is a remarkable collection of the
classic cancellations of India, which is being offered intact.
As with all Spink Shreves auctions, bidders may participate in the auction
– live on the Internet – during the sale. Please see our website for
details of this exciting bidding option.
