General
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1073 Oc British Commonwealth extensive used collection from the Victor Van Bourg estate of thousands of stamps and dozens of covers to 1952 in fifteen homemade albums, a wide range of colonies are represented, with many 19th century stamps cataloging $50.00-$500.00 apiece, especially strong and desirable 20th century, with many of the King Edward VII and King George V "tablet" sets and high values, many of which are quite elusive to find used, not only are there straightforward sets and singles, but many of the colonies are nicely augmented with shades, varieties, multiples, covers, as well as specialized studies of some issues, there is a particularly interesting volume of South Africa and realted colonies, the highlights are too numerous to list and no description can really do this collection justice, as the diligent viewer will find value in the most unlikely of places; this is the ultimate basis on which to start building an advanced used collection of the entire British Commonwealth. Est. 15,000-20,000

Closed or SOLD for $52,500.00
Closing..Nov-18, 11:30 AM
1074 ogO British Commonwealth interesting balance of the Van Bourg estate, with many hundreds of mint or used, early to modern, from a wide range of colonies, we note many better items mixed in with more common stamps, therefore close inspection is required to properly evaluate; our estimate could well prove to be conservative. Est. 1,000-1,500

Closed or SOLD for $2,100.00

1075 c British Commonwealth fascinating accumulation of better postal history, a widely diverse group of 41 covers whose sole connection to one another is that each is not your "typical" cover, ranging from 1857 to 1946, containing covers from far flung desirable countries as Batum, Cook Islands, North West Pacific Islands, New Guinea. Transvaal, etc., we note early Great Britain usages to scarce destinations such as Gambia and Russia, just a couple of random individual highlights include an 1885 OHMS stampless cover from Labuan to the Netherlands Indies, an 1895 OHMS stampless from Tonga (with fancy Government handstamp frank) to San Francisco, 1897 native cover from Canton, China franked with a pair of Hong Kong 20c on 30c Surcharges, an 1891 bisect usage from British Honduras, plus many others, condition a bit mixed, but largely fine-very fine; examination is essential to fully appreciate and evaluate this lot. 750-1,000
