109 c imageFI black (S.G. Spec. AS41) of fine appearance though cut into at top, used on 1843 (23 Jan.) edition of "The Walsall Letter-Bag", cancelled by Maltese Cross in red, just tied at right and impression from the canceller and oil from its ink shows through clearly on reverse of the newspaper, also with c.d.s. (24.1.1841) in red adjacent; very rare usage, as only one other example of a newspaper with a Penny Black is recorded; 1994 BPA certificate and 1998 RPS certificate. (Image) Est. £1,000-1,200
