Beginnig with the Treasury Competition of 1839, rarities from the Pichai collection chronicle the unique history behind the development, production and use of the first postage stamps. Brimming with essays, proofs, trial cancellations, study of individual plates, largest known multiples and important postal history; this magnificent collection is unrivaled for its assembly of significant historial pieces.

The Pichai collection heralds the British ingenuity leading to the creation of the first postage stamp nearly 160 years ago.
