AS40) horizontal strip of four with good to large margins and just clear at foot of BD, tied to 1841 (18 Mar.) entire (refolded at left to improve appearance) from Glasgow to Ayr (18.3), boldly cancelled by Maltese Crosses in black, ironed out vertical filing crease passes through HD, otherwise very fine and a distinctive usage; 1998 RPS certificate. AS41) block of six (3 x 2), large margins on three sides, two stamps touched at top, on 1841 (21 Apr.) entire from Holt to Norwich (22.4), nicely cancelled by Maltese Crosses in black, a light vertical filing fold passes through the central row of stamps, a piece bearing the block has at one time been neatly cut out from the cover and precisely rejoined with hinges, an appealing six times rate franking of particular rarity with a block of six; 1986 Holcombe certificate. AS41), mostly with good to large margins, a few slight surface abrasions, tied to 1840 (18 Oct.) entire letter (light soiling) from Kilmarnock to Prince Edward Island, cancelled by Maltese Cross in red, showing "Halifax / Nova Scotia" double-ring transit d.s. (14.11) adjacent, with framed origin d.s. in red on reverse, various manuscript rate markings "1/-" for trans-Atlantic letter rate, "Cy 1n4 / 2 / 1n6" representing the total due in currency including the inland colonial postage; an unusual and fantastic destination - for British North America as a whole there are only four covers recorded bearing Penny Blacks (two of which are in this collection); 1992 BPA certificate.
