Huston, designer; G.F.C. Smillie, vignette engraver; control number 1063875 (1920). (Image) Est. 1,500-2,000

Glover presentation album of large die proof on India, attractive and rare presentation album with full leather embossed padded covers, with gold stamped frame and inscribed "Warren I. Glover," the Third Assistant Postmaster General in charge of the Stamp Division, quality binding with the proof being matted slightly smaller than die area, control number not available because of the binding, but presumed to be an original proof pulled in 1922 or 1923 because it is on India, light tone specks to the proof, very fine; a beautiful and rare album; C.A. 1075 P 610P1a image#610P1a, 2c Harding, large die proof on wove paper, die sunk on full size card measuring 153x201mm, an approved proof signed by Harry S. New, Postmaster General, this being from the set presented to President Calvin Coolidge, dated August 21, 1923 just prior to when the stamp was issued, but the control number indicates that this was one of the proofs that Harry New had made in 1929 before he left office and is therefore on wove paper rather than India, trivial corner cease to card at bottom left mentioned strictly for accuracy, very fine; Harry New presented to President Coolidge a set of die proofs for all the stamps that were issued during the Harding-Coolidge presidencies, interestingly most of the proofs from this set were original approval proofs prior to the issue of the stamp, the proof offered here is one of the exceptions that apparently needed to be printed later to fill out the set; a clean and exceptionally choice proof; C.A. Huston, designer; Fred Pauling, vignette engraver; control number 154033 (1929). (Image) $1,400.00
