The Livingston Collection is, without question, the finest collection of United States 20th Century Essays and Proofs ever formed. It is a spectacular assemblage of essays, trial colors, large and small die proofs, and special presentation albums.

While 19th Century essays and proofs can be found with some regularity at auction, the appearance of a single essay or proof item from a 20th Century issue is quite unusual.
