Fr./Basse-Terre Guadele/19 Sept. 71" double-circle sorting c.d.s. for transport by French packet, rare black "Corr. D. Arm/Basse-Terre/19 Sept. 71" octagonal military c.d.s., blue St. Nazaire entry transit, proper military endorsement on the reverse, backstamped Paris, closed tears to the back that do not detract, very fine; this cover was found to be overweight and marked with ms. "2" indicating that it required two times the postage, it was then treated as an unpaid cover at the amount of 60c with credit given for the 20c stamp and marked "4" decimes handstamp due, this cover was being sent to a military office in Paris that evidently didn't want to pay the postage due so it was refused and turned over to the Rebuts office in Paris with red c.d.s. on the reverse for processing the return to the sender; the military usage is extremely rare in itself but the postage due and the refusal by the recipient make this an incredible rarity, quite possibly the only recorded colonial military cover processed through the Rebuts office.
