important documents relating to this are an 1880 agreement between th1880-1881 Hawaiian Railroad Company documents, a collection of five documents for the Hawaiian Railroad Co. to build and operate a railroad in the district of North Kohala, two important documents relating to this are an 1880 agreement between the Ministry of the Interior and the Hawaiian Railroad Company for the railroad company to build and operate the railroad for the government (in essence a government contract), dated October 25, 1880 and signed by "H.A.P. Carter", Minister of the Interior and "Samuel G. Wilder" President of the Hawaiian Railroad Co., also an 1881 Mortgage to Secure the Payment of Bonds made by the Railroad Co. with Charles R. Bishop and Samuel M. Damon who put up the financing of $90,000.00, this is also signed by "Samuel G. Wilder", the mortgage has a scarce $50.00 Slate blue and carmine and a vertical strip of four of 10.00 Reddish brown and green revenues tied (#R5, 6, document folds affect two $10.00 stamps as is normal), the other three documents are letters among the parties relating to this transaction and one is signed on the outside upon being registered by "Chas. R. Bishop" and "S.M. Damon, all of the documents are fresh and very fine; an interesting collection of documents showing the high financing of railroads in Hawaii. (Image) Est. $1,500-2,000

Damon, including an 1886 Hawaiian language certificate from the Governor's Office of Hawaii with embossed colorless Crown seal of that office, the other five are 1893 English language certificates from the Interior Office being a new series, two have the large embossed colorless Crown seal of the Governor's Office, also includes five 1886-87 invoices or receipts of S.M. Damon relating to cattle transactions including a customs certificate for the importation of two bulls from the United States, very fine. Est. $750-1,000

944 1880-1913 Hawaiian revenue document collection of over 40 documents with Hawaiian revenues, most are various types of land deeds from the 1880's to the very early 1900's, the latest are three unusual milk licenses from 1911-1913, two with pairs of the 25c Green (#R1), nearly all the deeds are deeding land to S.M. Damon so they are signed by the original owners, some are quite valuable properties including many with $5.00 Vermilion and $10.00 Reddish brown and green (#R4-5), the highest revenue payment is $30.00 for a property of $8,279.00 which includes two $10.00 and one $5.00 values, also included is an 1899 stock certificate for 20 shares of the Hawaii Land Company with a 20c on 25c Green revenue with gold surcharge (#R6), sixteen documents also have two 50c Orange revenues (#R2) in place of the usual $1.00 Black that is found on most documents, condition varies with the typical quadruple fold of deeds affecting a few stamps on some documents, overall fine-very fine and nice collection of Hawaiian revenues on complete documents. Damon, all with both Hawaiian and U.S. revenues in the short time period of the Spanish-American War when United States revenues were required in the territory, all documents with at least one $1.00 Black (#R3) and eight include the scarcer $5.00 Vermilion and violet blue (#R4), plus 25c-$1.00 U.S. Documentary stamps of the period, typical file folds of this type of document affect a few stamps on some documents (quite normal), fine-very fine. 947 Huge archive of documents from the S.M. Damon estate, literally hundreds of documents relating to the real estate properties of Damon and his estate after his death housed in five large boxes, documents cover the period from as early as 1875 to the 1940's, some of the more important documents include various types of deeds to land, in the late 19th century these frequently have Hawaiian revenues, at least 200 documents have these revenues, usually one or more of the $1.00 Black (#R3), plus a few others with U.S. revenues, also a dozen or so copies of Royal patents awarding lands with black negative royal stamp, being legal copies for record purposes of the earlier originals that do not have the royal signatures, other types of documents include mortgages, surveys, abstracts and various reports for improvements and water development, etc., much income of the holdings was derived from leases of the land and there are hundreds of these leases, many signed by S.M. Damon but also by the lessee which were often residents of the Moanalua valley, includes a large map abstract pertaining to the Moanalua lands of Damon, plus other interesting items such as typographic printing blocks used for illustrations on printed materials, condition varies as would be expected for the time period involved but largely fine or better for documents; examination may reveal some treasures. 951 Hawaiian photo album with over 500 actual photographs from about the turn of the century to 1925, this album is from the Damon estate but there are no captions or notations with the photos to know the places or the people, many are city and rural scenes of Hawaii, but there are also some scenes that can be identified as California and a few hand colored photos of Japan, some of which are exceptionally attractive, also includes some at harbor scenes, either of Honolulu or San Francisco, the covers of the album are loose and there are neat worm holes through the album that affect some of the photos, though generally not causing serious damage, a lovely collection of early photos that is well worth examining.
